Our third LSBH Alden trunk show release is the Vanguard Boot, one of the three boot finalists in last year’s Alden design contest, designed and named by JR from New York.
Although it did not win, we thought it was a good idea so we offered it as a preorder after the contest. The combination of Horween brown chromexcel and brass eyelets really set this boot apart. We added a rubber Quabaug heel to the double waterlock leather sole for all day comfort on your feet.

I’ve never seen the Quabaug rubber heel on an Alden shoe before. Is this the factory’s replacement for the Goodyear rubber heel that’s been on LS shoes from Alden in the past? Any notable differences?

This is the first time we’ve used it. No noticeable differences really besides the look. This one is more vintage looking in my opinion. It’s a nice story, being made in Massachusetts as well.

I received my boots today which was pretty quick considering the holidays and their traveling from coast to coast. I am a little confused that the boots came with the standard goodyear rubber heel as opposed to the Quabaug heel that is advertised above in picture and in the text description of the boot…

We apologize for not double checking. Alden sometimes uses those heels when they run out. They are essentially the same heel. I hope it is ok for you. If not, we will gladly take them back.

Sorry, we do not have a mailing list for particular shoes/boots. The price was $495. We do not leave prices up because Alden prices increase every February.
