Alden Shoes – LSxSE (LSW & LSBH)

It’s been almost two years in the making so we are extremely proud to introduce the LSxSE Alden “Conservation Boot” to you.

The bond between Leather Soul and Self Edge goes beyond leather and denim, it was forged on ramen and beer. Seriously speaking, this collaboration was not about selling products, it was really about appreciating eachother’s businesses and wanting to collaborate in unison on two products we offer that match perfectly.

The LSxSE Alden boot, is what I like to call a “Conservation Boot,” a style was made in the 1940’s when leather was scarce due to rationing and wartime shortages. Instead of a traditional cap toe, this “faux” cap toe style was used to give the look of a cap toe without using extra leather.

This is the first time we have released this style from Alden.  It was first introduced to me personally by Art Tarlow, the owner of Alden Shoe Company.  I thought it would make the perfect collaboration boot, showcasing vintage heritage and detail, something that is very important to Self Edge. The detailing we chose complements the Iron Heart jean silhouette.  The Trubalance last has a chunky look and fits a wide variety of foot shapes. The tan goodyear rubber wedge sole adds to the vintage look and provides great light weight comfort.  Black regina grain calf was chosen as an alternative to plain black and Horween natural Chromexcel was chosen, just like natural indigo denim, for its remarkable aging potential.

The Iron Heart jean collaboration is a classic 5-pocket jean with a medium rise and a straight leg that flattering above the knee all the way up the back and there is very little taper so the jean looks great with boots.  The jean is completely stitched together with dark indigo thread, so while being a 5-pocket jean made of an indigo denim it’s easily dressed up because of the lack of contrast stitching.  For the jean we had Iron Heart produce us the darkest denim they’ve made that’s still indigo colored in a new 23oz weight. The denim is sanforized and therefore even due to it’s heavy weight, it’s still very comfortable.

    Hello! I just came across the ALDEN SHOES – LSXSE (LSW & LSBH) and I really love them!

    I usually wear a size US10.5E on my Red Wings. Do the Aldens run a little large? I love the cream coloured ones and would really appreciate it if you guys can advise on the sizing.
