NIKEiD

Sorry for all the Nike posts but as you can see I was a “sneakerhead” long before I was introduced to Aldens and Edward Greens.

Nike’s NIKEiD program was one of, if not the first MTO program for sneakers. Ever since its inception in 1999, I’ve been waiting for them to release a tennis shoe. Finally in 2011, they did and I made sure to order a pair on the first day they released.

The coolest part of my shoes are that my son and daughter’s names are embroidered on the heels but my wife doesn’t like me to show the internet that kind of info ha ha.

Black, Brown, Grey

I have been in love with Alden’s lady calf flex welt series ever since I was first introduced to it back in 2004. The butter soft calfskin coupled with the softer flex insole and oiled flex outsole make for an unbeatable comfort level.  Since then, I’ve ordered many different variations of lady calf with flex welt shoes and boots and every single one has been a hit.

Today I’m wearing the black flex longwing. I changed out the laces to match the antique edgetrim. I think it makes for a nice casual look. My jeans today are RRL slim fits in grey, a recent sale pickup from the Beverly Hills boutique, regular price $360 down to a steal at $108! Japanese denim, made in the USA, a great combo.

Pre-Order Announcements

Thank you to everyone for your continued interest in our Alden pre-orders!

Alden’s factory has been extremely busy and at maximum capacity for some time now.  We have been hesitant to offer pre-orders simply because they can easily take over a year to delivery these days.  However, due to numerous emails and phone calls urging us to continue our pre-orders, we will offer them again very shortly.

Please check back to our “Shop Talk” blog for our upcoming pre-order announcements.  FYI, the next one will include the slip on chukka everyone’s been asking about!

Time For Restoration

I’ve been wearing these cigar U-Tips twice a week for about 3 years now.  I’ll be sending them in for restoration soon. I like the change in color they’ve gone through so I will make sure to tell Alden not to polish the uppers when they do the restoration.

History

Tom Park opened Leather Soul in Downtown, Honolulu back in 2004. His only goal was to provide businessmen in Honolulu, a comfortable, classy store for all their footwear needs.

In August 2005, Leather Soul’s second location was opened in Waikiki, Honolulu. Specializing in Alden shoes, Leather Soul’s Waikiki “office” was an intimate haven away from the hustle and bustle of Kalakaua Avenue.

2007 marked the closing of the original shop Downtown in order to focus on the growing Waikiki location. In January 2008, LSW moved into its flagship location in the Royal Hawaiian Center on Kalakaua Avenue where it remains today. A little over 2 years later in 2010, Leather Soul Beverly Hills (LSBH) was opened on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California. In 2012, Leather Soul Downtown, was opened on Merchant Street, a block away from the original store. LSBH was closed in May of 2014 to focus on business in Hawaii. LSDT closed in February 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leather Soul was named Hawaii’s #9 fastest growing company in 2010, #10 fastest in 2011, and #15 fastest in 2012 by the Pacific Business News.

Leather Soul’s motto is, “From our soul to your sole.” We strive to provide a personal touch and create relationships with our clientele. We are not your typical shoe store. We are shoe-connoisseurs first and foremost. Thank you for helping us grow and being a part of our journey, step by step!

Aloha For Japan Shoe Trees (LSW & LSBH)

To further our efforts to help our friends in Japan, we present to you our “Aloha for Japan” limited edition shoe trees.

Words cannot express the amount of care we have in our hearts for the people of Japan. The bond between Hawaii and Japan has been a special one, dating back to 1885, just a year after the Alden Shoe Company began! Japanese immigrants came to Hawaii as laborers for the sugar cane and pineapple industries. Today, people with Japanese heritage make up for about 17% of Hawaii’s population. Hawaii also has been the favorite vacation spot for Japanese nationals for many years.

100% of the proceeds from the sales of these shoe trees will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

*Aloha, in the Hawaiian language, means affection, love, peace, compassion, and mercy.

In-store or shipped with shoes: $35.00/pair
Shipped to US mainland: $40.00/pair
Shipped Internationally: Must be ordered with shoes (because shipping fee alone would be $37.00)

Edward Green – Cherwell in Taupe Nubuck

Recently, Alden’s unlined tan suede chukka boot, model #1494, has had a major rejuvenation in popularity. Sometimes referred to as a “desert boot,” the unlined chukka is a versatile part of a fashionable man’s wardrobe.

This time around, we’d like to step it up a notch and present Edward Green’s version of the unlined desert boot.

While suede comes from the underside of calf, nubuck is actually from the topside. Considered more refined, durable, and luxurious than suede, nubuck is the perfect choice for this snoody Edward Green version of the classic desert boot.
