We were so excited to learn about this new product from Alden that we ordered 500 bottles! Leather Defender is Alden’s answer to rain spots on shell cordovan. Personally formulated by the President and Owner of Alden Shoe, Art Tarlow, Leather Defender protects both shell cordovan and calfskin from rain and stains while making your shoes look great.

I picked up a bottle of this a couple days ago from Alden DC and tried it out on a pair of whiskey shell chukkas that needed some attention. Very easy to use and I’m pleased with the results. The shoes shined up nicely and the creases, which were rough and a bit dirty, were cleaner and smoother. And, I just did a little water drop test — the drops beaded up and wiped away with no evidence. On the very top edge of the tongue, though, which clearly didn’t get the treatment, the water soaked in and left a dark impression before it dried. Good stuff. I wonder what’s in it….
